Our accreditations establish confidence in the work of testing, inspection and certification bodies whose assessment services are required in many sectors of the economy. With an accreditation, we confirm that these organisations can perform their work competently and in accordance with the requirements of internationally applicable standards, legal bases and relevant rules. That is our legal mandate. With our accreditations, we help to make products, processes and services safer and to simplify trade in Europe and around the world – in the interests of the nation and the economy, of protecting society and the environment.

EQRAS educates and gives audit as an independent service. It does not make any certification activity especially to the last user apart from certification authorities.

It specifies the conditions of the applicants of accreditation activity certification institutions that will make these conditions provide reliable, consistent, transparent and traceable.

EQRAS is made up to be an alternative for quality certification which mostly takes place  under the management of governments that are under the control of politics. This monopoly situation is against the principles of independence and impartiality that lie at the core of the concept of accreditation.

EQRAS accreditation provides an assurance of the competence, impartiality and integrity of conformity assessment bodies. EQRAS accredited certification, testing, inspection and calibration reduces the need for suppliers to be assessed by each of their customers.
